The Audio Grill, Game Soundtrack Studio
Indie game soundtrack composer David Burrows and audio veteran Mike Daw have joined together to form The Audio Grill, a new music collective that aims to give game developers the perfect sound track for their creations. Daws and Burrows have the soundtracks to over 50 games and television shows to their credit between them, and their works include a wide range of musical genres.
Among their most recent work are notable indie game titles such as Solar Flux HD, Avoid Droid, GunMonkeys, Paradigm Shift and TIGA-nominated Frutorious. The Audio Grill aims to utilize the collective’s combined experience and skill to create sound and musical experiences that enhance gameplay by complementing the characters and environments. In Mike Daw’s own words, “We really know and love videogames, and through The Audio Grill we’re aiming to harness that passion to bring a new style of collaborative working to game audio development.”
Dan Marshall, creator of GunMonkeys, was particularly impressed by The Audio Grill’s work. In fact, due to high demand from fans, he has made the soundtrack available via Bandcamp. Marshall describes the soundtrack as being “of blisteringly high quality,” and as a lover of gaming music myself, I wholeheartedly agree. (Monkey See, Monkey Do is my personal favorite, although the entire collection is a perfect compliment to an afternoon of fast paced gaming in my opinion.)
One last thing I simply must mention. As mentioned before, although we here at Extended-Replay love gaming in general, Indie Gaming holds a special place in our hearts. The collective at The Audio Grill seems to share that sentiment, and for the rest of 2013 The Audio Grill are offering a preferential 20% off introductory rate for indie developers.
